A Little Bit About Me

Welcome to my blog, my name is Mallory.

I'm the oldest of 3 kids.  I have a younger brother, Sean, and a younger sister, Hannah.

My mom is a second grade teacher and my dad makes TV shows.

I love to read.  My favorite book is "Fudge-a-mania" by Judy Blume and right now, I'm reading "Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief."  Art is also something that I love.  Along with my posts, I'll also put up a couple of my favorite pictures that I've drawn and ones that I've seen in museums too.

This year, I'm also starting piano lessons because we got a piano at our house.  It used to belong to my Great Grandma.

On my blog, I'll write about my life, some of favorite books and post pictures of my artwork.

I'd like to get to the know all the visitors to my gallery.

Please tell me about yourself.

Do you have a favorite hobby?

What is your favorite book?

Do you like making artwork?

      Thank you for commenting!

I have Black Beauty at my house, but I have never read it before. It was my mom's book when she was little. I'm planning on reading it though. What is the main character's name?

My favorite kind of artwork is making landscapes. I like to draw my landscapes with chalk pastels. Have you ever drawn with chalk pastels?

    2. Hi Mallory,
This is soooo cool! I love your blog. My favorite hobby - besides pretending to order food with Joel- is doing yoga and dancing. I'm a huge Judy Blume fan too! I've read almost every one of her books. Right now I'm reading The Cricket in Times Square by George Seldon to my students and it's slowly becoming my new favorite. I'm terrible at art, but I love THE arts and I appreciate creativity as much as Science. I can't wait to read what you post next!

  2. Dear Mallory,

I cannot believe you got your own blog. It's easy to make your own post, but to get your own blog is hard! I'm really impressed that four of our students got their own blog.

My favorite book is Christmas at Camelot. It is a Magic Tree House Book written by Mary Pope Osborn. My favorite hobby is playing baseball and I also like alpha smarting. I would make artwork, but not for a living.

I know your brother Sean very well. I play football with him at Boys and Girls Club.

What is your favorite artwork to make? What is your favorite animal to draw?

    Sincerely,

    Bryce

I can’t believe that your brother is on the Chargers. In the NFL the Chargers are good but not good enough to get to the Super Bowl. They play in San Diego not so far away from us. Does he play in San Diego☺? You are right NFL stands for National Football League.

      See you at school.

Is Sean’s team, the Chargers, good?

  6. Dear Mallory,

Congratulations on earning your blog! I look forward to reading your upcoming posts.

My absolute favorite hobby is traveling. I enjoy going to new places and seeing new and different things. I love to watch people and see how people live in other parts of our country and in other parts of the world. The more I travel I see how even though people might seem different, we are all really very much alike.

Like you, I enjoy reading. I have since I was in elementary school. My mom loves to read too and when I was little, she always let me buy a book at the bookstore. I don't know if she realized it, but it made a big impression on me because she didn't always let me get new clothes or toys but she always let me buy a book. She was telling me reading was important without saying it. As Mrs. Yollis sometimes says, "actions speak louder than words."

Have you read any of the Judy Moody books? If so, did you like them?

Congratulations on earning your own blog! You should be very proud of your accomplishment. I was especially interested in your new piano. It is interesting that it has been in your family for so many years. Was your great grandmother a good player? We have 2 pianos at our home because we all play piano. It is a wonderful instrument and I wish you good luck with your lessons.

I am a parent of 2 former students of Mrs. Yollis who also earned their own blogs. It has been a fantastic experience and I hope this hobby stays with you for many years to come. I look forward to reading your future posts.

I love the beautiful colors you've chosen for your blog and the title is perfect! I love rhyme!

The gadgets you've chosen are also terrific. I added a "Follow by Email" gadget to your sidebar. Anyone who subscribes, like I did, will get an email every time you publish a post. I invite your readers to do the same!

The next step would be to add some student bloggers and class blogs to a blog roll. I use the "List" gadget, but with your parents help, you can create one. I'll show all of you on Tuesday if you need some help.

You asked me about my hobbies. My pastime activities include walking and being with my sweet dog, Buck. I also practice yoga and enjoy gardening.

  10. Dear Mallory,

Congratulations on earning your own blog. I'm a second grade teacher in Tokyo, Japan. I grew up in Pennsylvania. We had a baby grand piano in our living room when I was growing up and I learned to play the piano. I'm glad that I learned and wish I would take time to play now but I don't. I think part of my reluctance is my piano teacher was very strict and although she was an excellent pianist, I don't think she was a very good teacher. I'm sure you will have a fabulous teacher and a great learning experience. It is really wonderful to be able to play an instrument and read music.

I'm not sure what I would say is my hobby at present. I do a lot of walking along a river near my house. I enjoy seeing the flowers, trees and water fowl. We have quite a variety especially in the winter of water fowl. There are several different types of ducks, egrets, herons and cormorants. Also a kingfisher.

It is equally hard to choose a favorite book, presently we are doing an author study on Jan Brett. She is one of my favorite illustrators and authors. For adult novels I like Francine Rivers.

I love looking at art work, but I don't feel competent in making art.

I also love reading and I have just read a fantastic book called Wonder which I am going to read to my 5/6 class when we return to school in 10 days time. I teach in Melbourne, Australia and we are still enjoying summer holidays here. I can play the piano and started learning when I was 9 years old. What a fantastic start you have made with your individual blog. I really like how you have included photographs that relate to what you have written about. Its fantasitc to hear about the piano that you will be taking lessons on, but it was also wonderful to see a photograph of it. It looks really special because of its age and its character and I think its wonderful that something that belonged to your great grandmother you are still able to use.

Our students in New Zealand are not at school at the moment, in the Southern Hemisphere where we are its the middle of Summer so our students are on their end of year break. We start the school year in February and finish each year in December.

I have a student in my class who is obsessed (in a good way!) with Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, and has read all the rest of the books in the series. I will show her your page when she comes back and get here to leave a comment.

Congrats on having your first blog! This is so fun. My favorite hobby is yoga. I like to go to classes, do it on my own at my house and especially like teaching it to Sarina and Gavin's classes. My favorite book is Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins. It is a grown-up book (so probably read it after you are 18) - it is about destiny. I also love creating art projects of any kind. I am happy to be a mommy because I get more chances to do art with my kids.

  22. Dear Mallory,
I am so excited to be visiting your blog and to have a chance to comment. My favorite part was that you love Judy Blume. She was my favorite author growing up and is now one of Jaxon's favorite authors. In fact, Jaxon has read every book that she can and wants to write to Judy Blume to ask her to write more! Wouldn't it be funny if she convinced her to do so? There would be a lot of happy girls (and moms) if there were new Judy Blume books to read!

Have you ever read the Little House on the Prairie books? I loved the books and then I loved the tv show when I was much, much younger. You may enjoy them too and we can lend you a few if you'd like to try them out.

Like Colin's mom, I was never told that I could not get a book and I think that I love reading because of that. Likewise, I try to do the same with my kids and they both LOVE to read. In fact the tooth fairy knows how much we love to read and always seems to leave books for teeth (although we hear other kids get money). Would you like to find a book under your pillow?

Thanks so much for sharing yourself through your blog.

    Best,
    Barbara

I really enjoy reading your blog. You are a very interesting young lady. Thank you very much for sharing yourself with us. I am just recently learning how to blog, so it is very fun being able to learn from your blog. I also love Judy Blume. I can remember reading all her books throughout elementary school. My favorite book is, The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks. This is my favorite book because my life can relate to the story of the book. I too lost my dad at a very young age, just like Ronnie did in the book. Other than reading, I also enjoy being active. Playing sports is a major hobby one mine. I play tennis for my college. I enjoy playing. It helps me get through all the stress college puts on a student. I am not that much of an artist. I love artwork and I wish I was talented at doing artwork. You have a very special talent with art. I am glad to see that you really enjoy being creative. Thank you very much for sharing your blog with me. You are a very talented girl. I hope you keep up the good work.
